The word Concertina refers to a family of hand held bellows driven free reed instruments that was invented in 1829 by Sir Charles Wheatstone. By the 1830s Concertinas were manufactured and sold in Germany and England. Throughout the 19th century, the Concertina was a popular instrument as it is today.
