These Lyre Guitars, elaborately gilded, were popular among amateur musicians in the early 19th Century. The example on the left above were made by Robert Wornum in London about 1810. The other, on the right above was made by Edward Light about 1820. With this antique Guitar, it could be strung with as many as 17 strings.
